I’m a huge iPhone fan. I bought the 1st generation iPhone last year and absolutely love the phone. That is why I can’t wait till tomorrow when the iPhone 3G comes out. Here are the major new features of the new iPhone:
- 3G capable (surfing the web will be about 2x faster than current iPhone. Speed should be almost comparable to your broadband connection at home).
- Built-in GPS
- Microsoft Exchange Server Support. This means you can receive emails via push mail…similar to the Blackberry device.
- Third Party Applications. Apple will open a new apps store in July where many new applications will be available including games, productivity software, business applications, etc.
- Battery Life. In 3G mode, Apple promises 5 hrs of talk time. In 2G mode, talk time increases to 10 hrs. Note that when in 3G mode, it sucks up battery life faster than when you’re in 2G mode. Internet time in 3G mode is 5 hrs, 6 hrs of WiFi Internet time, 7 hrs of video playback, and 24 hours of audio playback.
I’m not crazy enough to wait in a long line to purchase one tomorrow morning but will get one as soon as I can.
